You may surprise, Primavera P6 does not support exporting Template into an XML file. We can achieve this by creating a project from Template and exporting the project into an XML file. On the other side, we can import the XML file and create a template from the imported project. I explained the same in this section. Assume I have a Template in Primavera P6 as shown below. I want to export this template into an XML file. As I already mentioned P6 does not support it so we are going to create a project from this template. A project will get created from the Template; Now we can export this Project into an XML file ( Click on Action button in EPS tab>> Select Import/ Export >> Click on the Export tab and select the project and Select) That’s it; We can download the Project as an XML file. Assume we imported this XML file in another machine and created a Project. We can create a Template from the imported Project by Right Click on the EPS >> Add Template ...

With Primavera P6 version 18, we can easily install the new version 18 and keep the old version (for example version 16) on the same computer. You can easily export projects to locations outside Primavera P6 using the XML file format to share project information between Project Management databases. To export projects using Primavera P6 XML format follow these steps: Click Projects. On the Projects navigation bar, click EPS. On the EPS page, click the Actions menu and select Import/Export,  XML Project Import/Export.... In the XML Project Import/Export dialog box, click the Export tab. On the Export tab: In the Export Type field, select Primavera XML. In the Export Project field, click  Select Project and select a project from the dialog box. Click on Export.
