You may surprise, Primavera P6 does not support exporting Template into an XML file. We can achieve this by creating a project from Template and exporting the project into an XML file. On the other side, we can import the XML file and create a template from the imported project. I explained the same in this section.
Assume I have a Template in Primavera P6 as shown below. I want to export this template into an XML file. As I already mentioned P6 does not support it so we are going to create a project from this template.
A project will get created from the Template;
Now we can export this Project into an XML file ( Click on Action button in EPS tab>> Select Import/ Export >> Click on the Export tab and select the project and Select) That’s it; We can download the Project as an XML file.
Assume we imported this XML file in another machine and created a Project. We can create a Template from the imported Project by Right Click on the EPS >> Add Template >> Select The Advanced tab >> Click on the button next to Copy from existing Project or template >> Select the imported project and Create. That’s it. A template will get created from the imported XML file.
